Meet Todd Ponsky, MD, FACS
Dr. Ponsky is a pediatric surgeon at Akron Children’s Hosptial, where he’s been practicing since 2012. A graduate of Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine in Cleveland, he completed his residency in general surgery at The George Washington University in Washington, D.C. He went on to complete a pediatric surgery fellowship at Children's National Medical Center in Washington, D.C. and an advanced minimally invasive pediatric surgery fellowship at The Rocky Mountain Hospital for Children in Denver. Dr. Ponsky was the first to perform and report single port surgery in children and modernized the methods of the laparoscopic pediatric hernia repair. He is board certified by the American Board of Surgery in general surgery and pediatric surgery. He has published hundreds of manuscripts, authored numerous book chapters and directed dozens of national and international courses. Additionally, he is the associate editor for The Journal of Pediatric Surgery, the vice president of The International Pediatric Endosurgery Group and holds leadership positions with the American College of Surgeons, American Pediatric Surgery Association and Society of American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons. Additionally, he’s a professor of surgery at the University of Cincinnati, an associate professor of surgery and pediatrics at Northeast Ohio Medical University and is the director of clinical growth and transformations at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center. Dr. Ponsky is globally recognized for his technique using gastric electrical stimulation to treat gastroparesis in children.
