Meet Selena Magalotti, MD, FAPA
Dr. Magalotti joined Akron Children’s behavioral health division in January 2023. Prior to that, she was a staff psychiatrist at Northcoast Behavioral Healthcare. She earned her medical degree from Northeast Ohio Medical University in Rootstown, Ohio. She completed a general adult psychiatry residency at the University of Toledo and fellowships in forensic psychiatry and child and adolescent psychiatry at University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center/Case Western Reserve University in Ohio. She’s certified in psychiatry, forensic psychiatry and child and adolescent psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. Dr. Magalotti is also a Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association (FAPA).

Dr seems very likable and thourough
This Dr was absolutely the most helpful, kind, funny, insightful, supportive and so much more. She made such a great impact on my son and his current situation. I'm very thankful to have her on our team.
As always - a great visit with Dr. Magalotti. She's the best and we look forward to meeting with her every appt! She's patient and kind, which we love because it is not always easy to engage with a child that has ADHD. (I find that people don't know how to navigate a hyper child easily or effectively- but she does it! & he responds to it!) I think its rare to find pediatric providers who understand how to bridge trust with kids, and are not quickly (or overtly) irritable when kids get stubborn... (parents of these children are already flustered or embarassed and it certainly doesn't help) Dr. Magalotti understands what is reasonable to expect, what the child is capable of within their situation. She really is able to meet a kid where they are, without judgement! We couldn't be more thankful for her continued care!
It was our first time visiting this location and the staff at the front desk was professional & helpful. Our grandsons loves Dr. M. She knows how to talk with them so they understand what she is saying. And they open up to her about there feelings, that's a plus!!

Dr. Magalotti is a true gem of a person and physician! She is always very thorough, with a kind and disarming disposition, and a wealth of knowledge! You can feel she has a lot of heart for her patients care! We always feel included in our sons treatment plans, and appreciate her patience and kindness in explaining options for us/answering questions. I wish the pediatric mental health profession had more providers like Dr. Magalotti, many families would benefit from her approach to patient care! She has cultivated an atmosphere of understanding and compassion from the very start. This has always greatly stood out to us, as it is easy to feel judged or ashamed about the struggles your family and child are experiencing, but this was never the case with Dr. Magalotti! She''s been a life saver for us, and we have continued to have improvement for our family as whole since beginning care with her. It is incredible the difference it makes when you have a physician who listens to understand, and is encouraging along the way! There aren't enough great things to say about our favorite doctor!

She's one in a million! Someone you can trust. I can tell she truly cares about her patients and likes her job. Very personable and smart. I wish I had found her sooner, but am very grateful my daughter is in her care now.
