Meet Laura Markley, MD

Dr. Markley is a child and adolescent psychiatrist and medical director of consultation-liaison psychiatry and community pediatrics liaison at Akron Children’s. She’s also a pediatrician in the hospital’s Adolescent Medicine Clinic. She is a graduate of Northeast Ohio Medical University and has been practicing at Akron Children’s since 2009. She completed a triple board residency in pediatrics, psychiatry and child and adolescent psychiatry at the University of Utah Medical Center. Dr. Markley has a special interest in psychopharmacology of the medically ill, substance abuse (particularly the novel designer drugs of abuse) and collaborative/integrated care. She is certified by the American Board of Pediatrics in general pediatrics and the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in general psychiatry and child and adolescent psychiatry. She is a fellow of the Academy of Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry, the American Psychiatric Association and the American Academy of Pediatrics, as well as a member of several other professional organizations. Dr. Markley has authored nearly a dozen publications and is an associate professor of psychiatry and an associate clinical professor of pediatrics at Northeast Ohio Medical University.
