Meet Kerwyn Jones, MD
Dr. Kerwyn Jones is the current President of the Medical Staff. He joined Akron Children’s as a pediatric orthopedic surgeon. After receiving a medical degree from Hahnemann/Medical College of Pennsylvania he completed a residency in orthopedic surgery at the Cleveland Clinic and a fellowship in pediatric orthopedics at the Campbell Clinic in Memphis, Tenn. Dr. Jones is a sports medicine specialist with expertise in patella instability, orthopedic care for spina bifida patients and pediatric trauma. He has been Cleveland Magazine’s top docs for Pediatric Orthopedic Surgery for the last 3 consecutive years. In addition to his numerous publications on pediatric ACL research in peer-reviewed journals, he developed the current national standard for appropriate narcotic usage after surgery on children. He is certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery a member of the Pediatric Orthopedic Society of North America and is president of the Medical Staff and the previous Chair of Orthopedic Surgery at Akron Children’s. He is amazing!! We never have any issues he always takes care of our needs for my daughter.
Dr. Jones is phenomenal. He has been so great with my daughter and I through out everything. He listened to my concerns with surgery and getting my daughter back to a sport she loves. He truly makes us feel like we are his only patients. His support staff is great as well. His PA (staff name) and RN (staff name) have gone above and beyond for us. Thank you for taking such great care of my daughter.
I was in there because my son had broken his pinky and we went to a different orthopedic and they said that everything was fine, didn't bandage it up, said he would heal just fine. I called Akron Children's for a second opinion because I just didn't feel that was right. And every single person I talked to went absolutely above and beyond. They made him feel super comfortable. He's super sensory sensitive and I made that clear to them and they went above and beyond and exceeded all expectations, made him happy, comfortable, excited to have a cast on when the other orthopedic had just put a simple light buddy tape on his finger which wasn't going to heal correctly. They walked me through everything and were very educational to me. They talked to my (age) year old son and made him understand.

My son has a complete ACL tear. We had our 1st appointment with Dr. K Jones today, let me tell you that man is simply impressive. He took all the time we needed and then some, he was patient, he really listened to a few personal concerns we had and honestly made myself and my son feel completely comfortable.
