Meet Jessica Bivens, DO, MA
Dr. Bivens is a clinical cardiologist at Akron Children’s Heart Center where she’s been in practice since 2019. After graduating from Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine, she completed her pediatric residency at Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus and a fellowship in pediatric cardiology at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh. She has a special interest in pediatric cardiology and palliative care. Dr. Bivens is certified by the American Board Pediatrics and is board eligible in pediatric cardiology. She is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics and a lecturer for the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. Additionally, she completed the Global Health Certificate Program at Nationwide Children’s Hosptial and has worked as a physician to support patients through St. Albert’s Mission Hosptial and DOCARE International Clinic.

Dr. Bivens has amazing bedside manner. My son was very nervous and did not know what to expect, and feeling as though he might not be able to play sports anymore. I will say that from our Medical Assistant (staff name), to the Echo tech who knew the perfect movie to put on, to Dr. Bivens herself who was kind and thorough, everyone made my son so comfortable and I am thankful.
Dr Bivens was absolutely wonderful. Friendly, calming and very knowledgeable. Everyone was very nice from checking in to checking out.
Very kind, very concerned about the situation. Gave lots of information about what to do. And everyone in the office was very nice.
I always felt comfortable and confident in Dr. Bivens, she always told me if any concerns or problems came up, just give the office a call and she would be glad to check up on things. Very personable and took time to make sure you understood and explain things to you.
The doctor took a lot of time to explain our sons conditions and options. She calmed our concerns with BP and HCM and refocused our attention on next steps with WPW. The staff was nice and took us in early. The place seemed organized. It was a more personal and patient experience rather than routine and bland.
From the staff greeting us at check in too the secretary's on the second floor and the EKG tech to the cardiologist they all were amazing ! The cardiologist answered every question we had and helped us feel very calm in a very out of our hands situation a blessing forsure my only complaint is I don't like that we had to wait a week to be seen
Dr. Bivens was lovely. She was patient with me while I explained my worries about a certain condition running in our family and then put my fears to rest while explaining factual information about the condition without making me feel stupid for asking questions. She did everything she could to be thorough and make sure we left feeling heard and with all our questions answered.

Very nice and listened to me and child with patience and kindness. Also talked to my child not AT my child or like he wasn't in the room. which I think is very important to for us since he is (age) and I want him to be involved in making his health choices.
