Meet Heather Brandt, DO
Dr. Brandt joined the Akron Children’s pulmonology department in 2023. She completed her medical degree at the Ohio University Heritage College of Medicine, Athens, Oh. She completed a pediatric residency at Akron Children’s Hospital and a pediatric pulmonology fellowship at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta/Emory University, Atlanta, Ga. She’s certified in pediatrics and pediatric pulmonology by the American Board of Pediatrics and is a member of the American Thoracic Society and the American Academy of Pediatrics.

Dr. Brandt was an amazing doctor and she took so much time with us. She really was so good with our daughter and she explained everything in detail and gave us an action plan for what to do and a follow-up and told us what to do if we had any questions at all. And I just can't say enough how great our appointment went and how much I would recommend her to other people.
I'm allergic to hand sanitizer and I'm in the room with my daughter and I opened the door because they used a hand sanitizer in there and I couldn't breathe. And a lady comes and tells me I can't have the door open. I can have it cracked. I'm like you don't understand. I'm going to end up having an asthma attack. She said well you can only have it cracked. I did not appreciate that. In a doctor's office that is pulmonary they should understand allergic, Asthma and no better. I don't know who it was but I feel like that needs address. If a patient feels that they need the door open for a reason I I don't see any reason for you to trap them in. I mean yes, if I'd have had a asthma taco would have been in the right place cuz it's pulmonary. But I still didn't appreciate it. I'd rather not have an asthma attack if that's okay with you.
Dr. Brandt was so sweet to my daughter and made sure she was comfortable, answering all of my questions and even spending extra time to talk to my daughter about school and fun things. At the end of the visit, she made sure we knew when to reach out if no improvement, and what the next steps would be should that happen. My daughter actually didn't want to leave the appointment! Thank you Dr. Brandt for being awesome at what you do
