Meet Anjay Khandelwal, MD, FACS, FICS, FABA

Dr. Khandelwal joined Akron Children’s in 2020 and serves as the director of the Adult and Pediatric Burn Institute. He earned his medical degree from Sri Devaraj Urs Medical College, Kamtaka, India and completed a general surgery residency at Temple University/Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center in Johnstown, Pa. He completed a clinical burn fellowship at the University of Washington, Harborview Medical Center, Seattle, Wa., and a surgical critical care fellowship at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, N.C. He’s board certified by the American Board of Surgery with additional certification in Critical Care Surgery. He is a fellow with the International College of Surgeons and the American College of Surgeons, and a member of the Ohio Chapter of the American College of Surgeons, the Surgical Infection Society and the Easter Association for the Surgery of Trauma. He was inducted into the 2024 class of Fellows of the American Burn Association. FABA status allows physicians to demonstrate specialization in burn care through advanced training, contribution, and commitment to the field. He is an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics and Assistant Professor of Surgery at Northeast Ohio Medical University.
