The Mission of the Akron Children's Simulation Center for Safety and Reliability is to promote high quality patient care, enhance patient safety, improve multidisciplinary healthcare communication and teamwork, and contribute to the development of highly reliable healthcare organizations within our community, while advancing the field of healthcare simulation through innovation and research.
The Akron Children's Simulation Center for Safety and Reliability will be a local, regional, and national center of excellence and innovation for healthcare simulation, education, and research with the fundamental goal of advancing patient safety and reliability.
We use high fidelity mannequins and standardized patients to create realistic scenarios that reflect the demands faced by today's healthcare professionals. We simulate the physiological responses patients may exhibit to help providers be prepared to perform successfully in live clinical settings. Our simulators are sized from preemies to toddlers, adolescents to adults. We provide participants of all skill levels the opportunity to refine, refresh or acquire new skills and procedures.
The Society for Simulation in Healthcare has accredited the Center for 5 years: June 12, 2018 through Dec. 31, 2023, in the areas of Teaching/Education and Systems Integration.
Akron Children's Simulation Center for Safety and Reliability is always learning and growing. A large part of our growth is dependent on our research projects. We work independently and with other departments and institutions to foster our growth. If you would like to collaborate, please let us know.
