Pediatric Residency Life
Residency life in a pediatric residency program will not only be fast-paced and rewarding, but it will also act as an active way for physicians to be a part of a social community.
What Is a Pediatric Medical Residency Like?
Even though residency training is a full-time job, our pediatric residents still find time to have fun together and enjoy the resources available in the greater Akron community. With larger cities, Lake Erie and the Cuyahoga Valley National Park nearby, the cultural and outdoor activities for an engaging residency life are limitless.
Our residential communities vary from urban settings to more rural communities, most within a 20- or 30-minute drive. We also provide opportunities to serve locally as well as overseas, where the medical needs are significant.
Special Residency Events
Organized events are held throughout the year for residents, including retreats. The intern retreats focus on promoting resiliency and team-building experiences. The second-year residents’ retreat focuses on “Residents as Teachers and Leaders.” The second-year class spends the afternoon together participating in an activity of their choice. The third-year retreat is a bonding experience where the residents spend the entire day participating in an activity of their choice.
Residents are also invited to the Noah Miller Recognition Dinner, the annual residency graduation, where the graduates’ accomplishments are celebrated by the faculty and their families.
