Pediatric Pulmonology Elective
We offer a 4-week pediatric subspecialty elective in pulmonology to 4th year medical students.
Objectives
- Learn basic concepts in the diagnosis and management of common pediatric respiratory problems
- Become familiar with a variety of asthma medications and proper administration techniques
Description
- Participate in daily outpatient clinic, including evaluation of patients with asthma, cystic fibrosis, chronic respiratory failure and other general pulmonary problems
- Learn to develop a relevant pediatric pulmonary differential diagnosis
- Observe pulmonary function testing and asthma teaching class
- Typical daily schedule: 8 a.m. – 5 p.m., Monday–Friday
