Pediatric Pulmonology Elective

    We offer a 4-week pediatric subspecialty elective in pulmonology to 4th year medical students.

    Objectives

    • Learn basic concepts in the diagnosis and management of common pediatric respiratory problems
    • Become familiar with a variety of asthma medications and proper administration techniques

    Description

    • Participate in daily outpatient clinic, including evaluation of patients with asthma, cystic fibrosis, chronic respiratory failure and other general pulmonary problems
    • Learn to develop a relevant pediatric pulmonary differential diagnosis
    • Observe pulmonary function testing and asthma teaching class
    • Typical daily schedule: 8 a.m. – 5 p.m., Monday–Friday
    • Night call/special requirements: None
