Module 1 - Immunizations
Goals:
The student will gain understanding about recommended childhood vaccines including the importance of vaccines, risk of delaying/skipping vaccines, newly recommended vaccines, and common myths regarding vaccines.
Objectives:
Following the outpatient pediatric rotation, the student will be able to:
- Name vaccines recommended in the childhood vaccine schedule
- Name vaccines recommended for adolescents
- Describe existing myths about vaccines
- Explain the concepts of cocooning and herd immunity in regards to vaccines
- Describe what a VIS is and common side effects of vaccines
