Patient, doctor, and community leaders kick up their heels to benefit Cancer Center
10-06-2022 (Akron, Ohio)
Well-known business and community leaders will join 6-year-old cancer patient Andrew Codner and his Pediatric Hematologist/Oncologist Dr. Vanisha Patel at Akron Children’s on the Akron Civic Theatre stage Oct. 14th for the 11th annual Dancing for the Kids fundraiser.
The event is spearheaded by the Akron Children’s Emerging Leaders, a group of volunteer young professionals who focus on fundraising for Akron Children’s. Dancing for the Kids has raised more than $1 million since its inception. Hosted by Keith Kennedy from KDD’s 98.1 morning show, this year’s performance will raise money for patient and family services at the Showers Family Center for Childhood Cancer and Blood Disorders.
Dancing for the Kids pairs participants with students at Kent State University’s Dance Program and Creative Motion Studios, who choreograph the routine. This year’s teams include:
- Tom Peeples, senior manager, Lean operations, The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company
- Jason Stanford, former Cleveland Guardians pitcher, Standford Baseball Academy, Steel Valley Expos Baseball Club, VFR Homefront
- Caroline Babbit, representing the Akron Children's Women's Board
