Akron Children’s Hospital names Tina Sanzone vice president of access and patient navigation

Akron Children’s has named Tina Sanzone, MHA, BSN, RN, vice president of access and patient navigation.

In her new role, Sanzone will be responsible for patient access and referral management with oversight of the appointment center, communications center, critical care transport and language access services.

“Tina’s clinical and operations background make her an excellent fit for this role," said Lisa Aurilio, MSN, MBA, chief operating officer at Akron Children’s. “Tina’s long career at Akron Children’s has given her a unique perspective on the needs of patients and their families. She knows how much patient families value convenience and ease of access when scheduling appointments and navigating our locations and will use this knowledge in her new role.”

Sanzone, who previously served as the interim administrative director of the appointment center and administrative director of the centers of excellence programs and maternal fetal medicine, began her career at Akron Children’s as a staff nurse in the PACU in 1998. She has held multiple positions including clinical coordinator in the PACU, operations manager and administrative director in many of Akron Children’s specialty practices throughout her career at the organization. Before joining Akron Children’s, she held clinical roles at Akron General Medical Center and Robinson Memorial Hospital.  

She earned a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Kent State University and a master’s degree in health administration from the University of Phoenix.
