Dr. Sara Lee joins Akron Children’s as Director of Medical Education

Dr. Sara Lee has joined Akron Children’s as Director of Medical Education, Designated Institutional Official, and Vice Chair of Education for the Department of Pediatrics.
She comes to Akron Children’s from Case Western Reserve University (CWRU), where she has been serving as assistant vice president and chief health officer since 2022. Her responsibilities included the medical and mental health care of students and leading public health initiatives for faculty, students and staff. She helped lead the university’s COVID-19 response and expanded mental health resources.
In her new role, Dr. Lee will oversee all aspects of medical education (undergraduate, graduate and continuing medical education) for 1,300 medical staff, ensuring the integration of the hospital’s academic mission with clinical practice and research, in accordance with the standards set by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education and other national accreditation bodies.
After completing medical school at CWRU, Dr. Lee completed her pediatrics residency at UH Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital (UHRBC) and a fellowship in adolescent medicine at UHRBC and MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland.
She has authored more than a dozen peer-reviewed articles and book chapters.
