Akron Children’s to celebrate opening of new Food Farmacy with ribbon cutting
03-19-2025 (Mahoning Valley, Ohio)
Akron Children’s will mark the opening of a Food Farmacy on its Boardman campus with a ribbon cutting. The Food Farmacy is a food pantry that provides a 3–5-day supply of food for income-eligible patient families. Monthly visits to the food pantry, stocked in collaboration with the Second Harvest Foodbank, will be prescribed to patient families from the primary care and endocrinology practices in Boardman. The program is designed to identify patients, in particular children with chronic health issues, who are experiencing food insecurity and provide them with resources through the on-site food pantry.
The Food Farmacy is located on the first floor in Building A on the Boardman campus. It is open Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
