Akron Children’s and Mahoning County Children’s Services to plant pinwheels in recognition of Child Abuse Prevention Month

Planting Pinwheels

The 20th annual Pinwheels for Prevention kicks off with the planting of a “Pinwheel Garden” in Boardman Park on March 31 at 11 a.m. The initiative is part of a collaboration between Akron Children’s Hospital Mahoning Valley Child Advocacy Center and Mahoning County Children's Services. 

Pinwheels for Prevention is a public-awareness campaign that showcases community activities that support public policy and prioritizes healthy child development. It takes place in April during National Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention Month, which raises awareness of the importance and the need for families and communities to work together to prevent child abuse and neglect.  

WHO:       Boardman High School Emerging Leaders and the East High JROTC will plant the Pinwheel Garden. 

WHAT:      Pinwheels will be planted in the front lawn of Boardman Park’s St. James Meeting House located on U.S. Route 224.  

WHEN:     Monday, March 31, 2025 at 11 a.m. 

WHERE:   Boardman Park 

                  375 Boardman-Poland Rd., Boardman, Ohio 44512
