Akron Children’s Hospital names two vice presidents to its information services division

Akron Children’s has named Carole Ettinger vice president, Information Services Division and Troy Stairwalt vice president of Information Security.
In her new role, Ettinger oversees the implementation and support for clinical and administrative software applications, custom software development, system interfaces, vendor management, SharePoint and 0365 collaboration tools, biomedical engineering, customer service and operations.
Ettinger, who previously served as senior director, information services division, began her career at Akron Children’s as a project manager in 2011. Before joining Akron Children’s, Ettinger held multiple IT leadership positions at Roadway Express/Yellow Roadway.
In his role, Stairwalt will oversee all aspects of information security efforts at both the Akron and Mahoning Valley campuses in addition to our 60+ primary and specialty care locations throughout Ohio. Before joining Akron Children’s, Stairwalt, served as a Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) and previously as an Enterprise Information Security Architect at Westfield Insurance. At Westfield, he advised senior leadership and the board of directors on current state of information security, regulatory requirements and the evolving cyber threat landscape.
In addition, Stairwalt has performed work in various cybersecurity domains and functions ranging from information security (IS) manager, IS engineer, IS analyst, IT risk analyst and cyber forensic investigator at both TIAA and American Family Insurance where he lead their IS program for 5 years.
Stairwalt also serves as an adjunct professor at the University of Akron where he teaches classes on information systems security as well as information systems audit and control.
