Special Instructions:
This test is not recommended for evaluation of general hearing loss. The presence of HSP70 IgG antibodies may be useful in predicting corticosteroid responsiveness in a subset of patient's with autoimmune inner ear disease (AIED)characterized by idiopathic rapidly progressive sensorineural hearing loss (SNHL). HSP70 IgG antibodies are also associated with a number of autoimmune diseases and have been reported in apparently healthy individuals. A negative result does not rule out response to treatment or diagnosis of AIED.
