With kids’ hectic schedules, from sports practices to music lessons to play dates, more and more families are turning to direct scheduling in MyChart to manage doctor appointments and simplify their busy schedules.
Akron Children’s offers scheduling through MyChart for most specialty offices, in addition to well checks, sick visits, flu shots and sports physicals at its pediatrics offices.
It’s quick and easy, and it’s available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week in MyChart or the app for your convenience, as opposed to waiting for open office hours.
MyChart makes it easy by customizing your view in direct scheduling, so you only see the departments with which you’re already established. In addition, you can easily adjust your selected provider, reason for visit, location and time slot at any time during the scheduling process without having to start over.
You also can save favorite appointments to help speed up scheduling in the future.
Don’t have MyChart? No problem. You can still schedule appointments online or by calling 330-KID-APPT.
Get started: How to schedule appointments in MyChart
- Log in to mychart.akronchildrens.org. Select a patient.
- Click “Schedule an Appointment” under the Find Care tab in the patient’s main menu or you can find the button by choosing “Visits” in the toolbar.
- Follow the prompts to select your provider, reason for visit, location, and preferred date and time.
- Preview patient information, appointment details and visit instructions. Then, enter appointment comments and select “Schedule it.”
If you want to save the appointment as a favorite, check the box on the direct scheduling confirmation page. You’ll now be able to quickly schedule it again with the same reason for visit, provider and location so you can skip those extra steps.
When you log in for future scheduling, your favorite appointments will appear on the “Schedule an Appointment” homepage.
More appointment tools in MyChart
Parents can log into MyChart to cancel or confirm upcoming appointments, and they also will receive automatic reminders.
In addition to direct scheduling, families can view past and future appointments, and review after-visit summaries and clinician notes. They can view, download or transmit these health summaries to share with other physicians or specialists, track their progress, analyze trends or keep track of immunizations, and more. (Note: MyChart functionality for parents changes when their children reach the age of 12 to protect teen privacy.)
