Akron Children’s welcomes the following new providers.
Allergy/Immunology
Pediatric allergist and immunologist Rachel Szekely, MD, FACAAI, has joined Akron Children’s Center for Allergy and Immunology. She sees patients at our health centers in Beachwood and Boston Heights.
Dr. Szekely has been practicing since 2005. She earned her medical degree from the Medical College of Toledo in Toledo, Ohio. She completed an internal medicine and pediatrics residency at Michigan State University in Kalamazoo, Michigan, and an Allergy and Immunology fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation. Dr. Szekely is board-certified in pediatrics, allergy and immunology, and internal medicine.
Burn Surgery
Deepak Ozhathil, MD, a burn and critical care surgeon, has joined Akron Children’s Adult and Pediatric Burn Institute.
Dr. Ozhathil received his medical degree at the University of Massachusetts in Worchester, Massachusetts, and completed his general surgical residency at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque. He completed his surgical critical care and acute burn surgery fellowship at the University of Texas Medical Branch and Shriners Children’s Texas Burn Center in Galveston.
Dr. Ozhathil is board-certified in general surgery and surgical critical care.
Pediatric Gastroenterology
Pediatric gastroenterologist Carolyn Vespoli, MD, has joined Akron Children’s department of Pediatric Gastroenterology. She sees patients at our Akron campus and in Boston Heights, Marietta and Medina.
Dr. Vespoli earned her medical degree from Northeast Ohio Medical University in Rootstown, Ohio. She completed a pediatrics residency at Akron Children’s and a pediatric gastroenterology fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic. Dr. Vespoli is board-certified in pediatrics.
Pediatric Hematology-Oncology
Pediatric hematologist-oncologist Lauren Draper, MD, MA, has joined Akon Children’s Showers Family Center for Childhood Cancer and Blood Disorders. She sees patients in Akron and Boardman.
Dr. Draper earned her medical degree from the University of Oklahoma in Norman, Oklahoma. She completed a pediatric residency at Saint Louis University in St. Louis, Missouri, and a hematology-oncology fellowship at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City. She is board-certified in pediatrics with special certification in pediatric hematology-oncology.
Hospital Medicine
Amber Vozar, MD, has joined the hospital medicine team at Akron Children’s in Boardman. Dr. Vozar earned her medical degree from West Virginia University School of Medicine in Morgantown, West Virginia, where she also completed her pediatrics residency.
Maternal-Fetal Medicine
Perinatologists Justin Moore, MD, and G. Dante Roulette, MD, have joined Akron Children’s Maternal-Fetal Medicine Center.
Dr. Moore earned his medical degree from St. George’s University School of Medicine in Grenada. He completed a residency in obstetrics-gynecology at the University at Buffalo-SUNY and Sisters of Charity Hospital in Buffalo, New York. Dr. Moore also completed a fellowship in maternal-fetal medicine at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation.
Dr. Roulette earned his medical degree from Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine in Cleveland, Ohio. He also attended graduate school at Case Western Reserve University Weatherhead School of Management. Dr. Roulette completed a residency in obstetrics, gynecology and reproductive sciences at Magee Women’s Hospital of UPMC in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He completed a fellowship in minimally invasive gynecologic surgery at Summa Health System in Akron, Ohio, and a fellowship in maternal-fetal medicine at the University of Cincinnati. He is board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology.
