At Akron Children’s, we know that parents often prefer text messages to phone calls, and we are excited to offer new texting features to make it easier to manage your child’s care.
“We currently provide appointment reminders and confirmations, as well as check-in prompts and video visit invitations, via text message,” said Tina Sanzone, vice president of patient access and navigation. “We’re adding several new, secure features this summer.”
The new functionality includes:
- Billing messages
- Surgery reminders, confirmations, and updates during procedures
- Prescription alerts and refill reminders
- ED waiting room messages
- MyChart notifications
“If your child is at Akron Children’s for a surgery, we’ll be able to send updates when they start and end the procedure, as well as when it’s time for you to return to the post-operative care unit,” Tina said. “In the emergency room, we’ll be able to let you know you are checked in and when it’s time to be seen.”
It will also be easier than ever to pay your bill. When a new statement is available, guarantors will receive a text alert. They will also receive payment plan, estimate, billing letter and financial assistance notifications.
If you’re already receiving text messages from Akron Children’s, you don’t have to do anything to take advantage of the new features. If you would like to sign up, you can text START to 37406 to begin receiving messages or update your communication preferences via MyChart.
