Jeffrey Hord, MD, director of Akron’s Children’s division of Hematology-Oncology, has been elected incoming vice president of the American Society of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology’s (ASPHO) Board of Trustees. At Akron Children’s, he also holds the LOPen Charities and Mawaka Family Chair in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology.
Election to the society’s board of trustees are based on exemplary contributions to pediatric hematology/oncology, impactful participation in ASPHO, leadership abilities and representation of the society’s diverse membership. Dr. Hord has chaired ASPHO’s Education Committee and critical accreditation process, sustaining the society’s high-caliber educational content.
As the professional medical society of pediatric hematology/oncology subspecialists and other health care professionals, ASPHO is dedicated to promoting the optimal care of children, adolescents and young adults with blood disorders and cancer. The society serves more than 1,900 members including physicians, researchers, advanced practice providers and fellows by sponsoring educational and professional development programs, promoting discovery, advocating on behalf of patients and members, advancing professional practice, and supporting partnerships to further its goals.
