Medicine wasn’t always the career path Erin Bujnoch, CNP, thought she would take — marine biologist, veterinarian and pilot also made the list. Though she wasn’t sure growing up which exciting career path she’d wind up taking, she was certain helping someone, or something, would be a big part of her role. That someone, turns out, is children.
As much as Erin loves exploring the ocean and learning about life underwater — she still holds out hope to one day learn to scuba dive — she’s most passionate about diagnosing and treating kids and teens with minor to acute medical conditions as our newest certified nurse practitioner at Akron Children’s Pediatrics, Boardman. “Kids always have a way of brightening my day and have some of the funniest commentary,” she said.
Erin hopes to make a difference by providing quality care to patients, while also offering education and resources to families and caregivers. Her goal is to leave patients with the impression that she is an open-minded and knowledgeable provider who is eager to answer all their questions and concerns. After all, helping and interacting with kids, as opposed to pets or marine organisms, ultimately is why she chose this path.
Why did you choose to come to Akron Children’s?
I have always had a passion for pediatrics, starting as a new grad in nursing at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital NICU. After moving to northeast Ohio, I am very excited to be getting back into the pediatric population for a renowned organization like Akron Children’s.

My husband, Austen, is a college football coach. My son, Auggie, just turned one years old and loves to play with our fur children: a 7-year-old Boxer mix named Mack and a 3-year-old black Lab mix named Millie.
As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
I wanted to be a marine biologist, vet, pilot and then finally a nurse practitioner!
What’s one thing on your bucket list?
I would love to travel to Europe and learn how to scuba dive!
