Akron Children’s Quick Care Online® virtual health care service gives patients and families convenient access to care for common childhood ailments.
From the comfort of home or on-the-go, Quick Care Online connects parents to Akron Children’s pediatric providers for virtual visits using voice and video through a compatible mobile phone, tablet or computer from 7 a.m. – 9 p.m., 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
Through Quick Care Online, Akron Children’s pediatric health care providers can diagnose, recommend treatment and prescribe medication online, if medically necessary, for many common health issues, including allergies, cold and flu symptoms, sore throat, stuffy nose, poison ivy, pink eye, bronchitis, respiratory infections, sinus problems and more.
Quick Care Online is available to anyone age 6 months to under age 21 in Ohio, and your child does not have to be a current Akron Children’s patient to use it. The service can be billed to most major health insurance plans, including Aetna, Anthem, AultCare, Buckeye, CareSource, Cigna, Medical Mutual of Ohio, Molina, Paramount, SummaCare, UnitedHealthcare and the UnitedHealthcare Community Plan. A self-pay option is available and can be paid by credit or debit card in lieu of using insurance. Visit our site for details.
“We know our patient families are interested in convenience, as well as the high-quality care Akron Children’s is known for to help our families manage the health of their children from wherever they are and when they need it,” said Rob McGregor, chief medical officer at Akron Children’s.
Quick Care Online is an affordable, convenient alternative to some urgent care visits. It is not a substitute for regular visits to a pediatrician or primary care provider, and should not be used in emergency situations. It is intended to diagnose and treat common and minor health care issues.
To start using Quick Care Online, visit the website or download the app to sign up and request a virtual consult from an Akron Children’s medical provider. Within minutes, users will be connected with one of Akron Children’s pediatric providers from the comfort of home or on the go. An Akron Children’s provider will discuss the medical issue, answer questions and recommend next steps. If necessary, a prescription will be submitted to a local pharmacy of choice. While waiting for a health care provider, users can also complete or update personal information, medical history and billing information, and can view their Quick Care Online electronic medical records and visit history. Apple Health integration is also available for iOS subscribers.
