Akron Children’s has been named to Forbes magazine’s Best-in-State Employers list. The award recognizes employers who excel at providing excellent employment opportunities at the local and national level.
Forbes compiled the list by working with market research firm Statista to survey 70,000 U.S. employees across 25 industries. Statista collected direct recommendations from Children’s employees, as well as indirect recommendations from workers in the health care industry. The survey considered every aspect of an employee’s experience, including working conditions, salary, potential for growth and diversity.
“Our hospital is proud to receive this award, particularly since it’s based on employees’ experiences and recommendations,” said Rhonda Larimore, chief human resources officer at Akron Children’s. “We work hard at balancing employee needs and business needs related to compensation, benefits and work culture. We realize that when our employees feel engaged, it helps them be the best they can be. That, in turn, positively impacts the patients and families we serve.”
Forbes, which is well-known for its lists, has recognized Akron Children’s multiple times in the past. In 2020, Children’s was named to Forbes’ Best Employers for Diversity and Best Employers for Women lists. Another significant Forbes award came earlier this year: America’s Best Large Employers (2022).
“Our leadership team is incredibly grateful to our employees,” Larimore said. “Employees understand how meaningful our work is: we’re responsible for taking care of the kids, teenagers and young adults in northeast Ohio. Parents entrust their children’s lives with us. Our employees have always viewed their work as more than a job.”
Akron Children’s continues to earn national recognition, including its ranking among the best children’s hospitals by U.S. News & World Report. Visit the hospital’s 2022 Facts and Stats page for a list of recent awards and honors.
