Akron Children’s earned two designations in the 2022 Women’s Choice Awards: Best Children’s Hospital and Best Pediatric Emergency Care.
“It’s an honor for our hospital to receive this recognition,” said President and Chief Executive Officer Christopher Gessner. “These awards reflect our high-quality patient care, as well as our strong commitment to the communities we serve. We take pride in our patient- and family-centered approach to care, because ultimately, it leads to better health outcomes and improved experiences for our patients and their families.”
Women’s Choice Award is a nationally recognized, trusted referral source dedicated to connecting women to the best brands, companies and healthcare facilities for themselves and their families.
The award methodology uses objective measures based on publicly available data, as well as surveys completed by hospitals nationwide, to identify the best care. The award criteria look at 5 different facility areas to determine eligibility for Best Children’s Hospital: pediatric services, technology and family resources, board-certified staff, nurses and support staff and commitment to quality. The top hospitals are identified through a point system.
Akron Children’s also earned the Best Pediatric Emergency Care award because of its dedicated pediatric emergency department, pediatric intensive care unit and pediatric trauma center accreditation.
“Even under the challenging circumstances of the pandemic, our staff continuously delivers the best possible care,” Gessner said. “These achievements are really a testament to their hard work, skill and commitment to our patients and their families.”
Akron Children’s continues to earn national recognition, including its ranking among the best children’s hospitals by U.S. News & World Report. Visit the hospital’s 2022 Facts and Stats page for a list of recent awards and honors.
