Congratulations to Grace Wakulchik, president and CEO, for being named one of the Girl Scouts of North East Ohio’s 2019 Women of Distinction.
This year’s award recipients were selected for their achievements as business, community and civic leaders dedicated to supporting opportunities for women and girls. The awards, which were established to help raise funds for Girl Scout scholarships and financial aid, also honor a Girl Scout who epitomizes the Girl Scout Mission of building girls of courage, confidence and character, while showing exceptional promise to become a leader.
A former Brownie and Junior Girl Scout, Grace’s style of leadership models many of the tenets laid out in the Girl Scout’s founding principles – to be honest and fair, considerate and caring and to make the world a better place.
“My leadership style is dedicated to promoting a culture of caring employees who are focused on service above self,” said Grace. “It’s my responsibility as a leader to role model kindness, put others first and do the right thing.”
Grace is the first woman CEO in Akron Children Hospital’s 129-year history. Last year, she was named one of the 2018 Notable Women in Healthcare by Crain’s Cleveland Business for blazing a trail for other women in health care.
Grace, along with 9 other regional honorees, will receive their award at a luncheon on May 10 in Cleveland.
