Akron Children’s Mahoning Valley marked the next milestone in its construction project with a “Topping Off” ceremony.
The event recognizes the placement of steel as the next phase of construction for the hospital’s $18.6 million expansion of Building A on the Beeghly campus in Boardman. The beam was signed by employees and those involved in the project. With the steel beams in place, the exterior walls can be installed this summer making it possible for the interior work to begin in the fall.
The hospital broke ground on the project last December. The 2-story, 51,000-square-foot facility will add 47 exam rooms, including subspecialty and primary care, to better serve the community. Once complete, Akron Children’s Pediatrics-Boardman will relocate from Building C to Building A.
The project is expected to be completed in the summer of 2017.
