For five years, Sara Lundenberger, Nicci Avalon and Jody Smith of Akron Children’s Foundation, have decorated a tree for the Holiday Tree Festival.
This year, the theme of the Foundation’s tree is Building on the Promise in support of the $200 million expansion project on the Akron campus.
The tree features construction motifs including: construction vehicles, safety vests, traffic cones and hard hats. There are also 200 orange-colored lights in the center. To tie in with the building project, small, wooden building blocks with renderings of the new building are ornaments on the tree.
“It would really be a wonderful tree for someone working on the building project,” said Jody Smith, Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals program coordinator for Akron Children’s Foundation.
Lundenberger, Avalon and Smith will continue to support the Holiday Tree Festival year after year.
“Donating a tree is a great way to support the festival,” said Sara Lundenberger, special events coordinator for Akron Children’s Foundation.
