More about Julie Wei, MD, MMM, FAAP

Objectives (Educational Content) :

1: Recognize chronic nasal symptoms in pediatric patients are multifactorial, and common nasal congestion and rhinorrhea are not due to allergic rhinitis or 'sinus infection' as commonly presumed. 2: Implement and recommend use of saline nasal irrigation as an effective and safe treatment for pediatric nasal symptoms. 3: Identify treatment options for pediatric chronic nasal symptoms that may reduce medication use and/or surgical procedures.

Target Audience:

General pediatricians, family physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, social workers, psychologists, and nurses.

Identified Gap:

Chronic rhinosinusitis is a commonly encountered pediatric condition that can be managed with non-antibiotic therapy and nasal saline irrigation is an under-utilized therapeutic option that can be effective in treating this condition.
