Family Support: Parent Partners
It can be overwhelming when your child is experiencing a mental health crisis. Only caregivers who have gone through a similar experience can fully understand. Parent Partners have experience as caregivers of children with mental health concerns. They are available to provide support.
This service offers you ongoing help with:
- Communicating with mental health providers
- Understanding treatment recommendations
- Navigating the mental health system
As parents empowering parents, we focus on individualized and family-driven care to assist and support you in a way that’s best for you and your family. In line with the mission of Akron Children’s, this service is available to families regardless of their ability to pay.
How Parent Partners can help you:
- We’ll listen with empathy to your questions and concerns
- We can be a bridge between you and your child’s mental health providers
- We can accompany you and your family members to meetings at the hospital
- We can explain hospital processes and procedures
- We can continue to support you following hospital visits
