Family Support: Parent Mentor Program
Akron Children's Parent Mentor Program provides emotional support and information to parents and caregivers of children with special healthcare needs or disabilities.
Parent mentors are volunteers and each of us has had a child with special needs. Our training has taught us to listen. Our experiences have taught us to understand.
We felt alone, too, when we received the diagnosis of our children's illness and the medical care required. We were overwhelmed, scared and angry.
We have also come to know the blessings our children have brought to our lives.
If you would like to talk to one of us, visit the parent mentor directory. We also have parent mentors who are not listed in the database. If you don't receive a response from one of our online mentors, or would like to reach a mentor offline, please contact the program coordinator at 330-543-0964.
