Family Support: Camp Ed Bear

The camp is now completely supported by Project Ed Bear which originated in 1994 when 11-year-old Ede Bittle broke his leg playing football and discovered he had bone tumors. Although the tumors were benign, the experience inspired Ede to help others and he proceeded to distribute teddy bears to each newly diagnosed cancer patient at Akron Children’s. The name of the camp was changed to honor Project Ed Bear.

Camp Ho Mita Koda has a rock wall, outside basketball court, kayaking, canoeing, archery, gaga ball and ropes courses.
