Unity Center

The Unity Center is the heart and the home of diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) at Akron Children’s. Through its programs, initiatives and educational resources, the center promotes an organizational culture where everyone feels welcome, safe and valued. The center is also the focus of the hospital’s efforts to eliminate disparities, inequities and biases across our services, staff and processes.

These initiatives include DEI learning opportunities for staff, a committee working to ensure all patients and families receive high quality, evidenced-based, equitable care, as well as voluntary employee-led groups dedicated to creating a diverse and inclusive workplace aligned with the organization’s goals.
