Teaching parents Reiki for their adolescents receiving palliative care.

Who May Qualify:

Adolescents who:

  • are 10-19 years old,
  • are receiving palliative care at home
  • understand English 
  • have a  parent/legal guardian providing care most of the week 
  • can read/write English at an 8th grade level

Who Does NOT Qualify:

Parents and adolescents who have taken corticosteroids in the last 30 days and have less than 1 inch of hair. Parent and adolescents pairs also may not participate if the adolescent is in an inpatient facility, is in foster care, or if the home does not have a reliable way of storing samples at or below 32 degrees Fahrenheit (i.e., a freezer).
