Preventing Type 1 Diabetes in Relatives at Risk

Full IRB Study Title:
Oral Insulin for Prevention of Diabetes in Relatives at Risk for Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus

IRB Study ID: 70506

This study is to find out if taking an oral insulin capsule by mouth will prevent or delay diabetes in people whose relatives already have type 1 diabetes. If someone in your family has type 1 diabetes, you and other family members may have an increased risk for developing diabetes. If you have diabetes, your body fails to produce enough insulin.

Who May Qualify:

Males and females, ages 3 to 20, who have relatives with type 1 diabetes
