Aluminum Cans for Burned Children (ACBC)
Aluminum Cans for Burned Children (ACBC) raises money to help burn survivors and their families by funding educational and support programs, and paying for non-medical items or services that aren't covered by insurance. These include special protective clothing that helps skin heal, bicycles that help children exercise burned arms or legs, transportation to outpatient treatment for needy families, and more.
Getting Help from ACBC
If you or someone in your community needs assistance after suffering a fire tragedy, contact ACBC at the Akron Children's Paul and Carol David Foundation Burn Institute at 330-543-8813.
Your case will be taken to the ACBC board, which includes volunteer representatives from area fire stations, recycling company Metalico Annaco and staff from Akron Children’s. This can usually be done very quickly.
ACBC Summer Camp
ACBC holds an annual summer camp for young burn survivors who have been treated at Akron Children's burn center.
Located at Camp Y Noah in Clinton, they enjoy fun activities while the burn center staff and ACBC board members look after their safety and medical needs. Camp activities include swimming, field trips and Fire Truck Day, when fire departments from the area bring their trucks to camp.

Burn Survivors' Support Group
Akron Children's Paul and Carol David Foundation Burn Institute and ACBC sponsor a support group for burn survivors where they can exchange ideas and information to cope with everyday problems. Topics are presented monthly regarding common problems and issues related to the burn survivor.
When: First Tuesday of the month September-May (except December), from 6-9 p.m.
